I'm thinking of getting Marvel Heroes vs. Villains for Christmas: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5238447
over
Pirates of the Caribbean 2: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5238446
mostly due to the difference in price.

Here is the company's Website: http://www.zizzle.com/V9/products/product-pinball.html

Can anyone detect a difference between the two products other than theme (it helps to look at the company's Website)? I sure can't. Wal-Mart lists the Marvel game as 1 pound heavier than the Pirate game, but otherwise they seem identical.

I was unsuccessful in tracking down reviews for these games, but did read a pre-production review of "Pirates" a while back and it was quite positive in regards to value versus simulation of the real pinball experience (seems like these scaled down pinball machines are better than the TV Game quality scaled down arcade machines).

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Wow, I could go for the

Wow, I could go for the "Pinball Circus", but not sure if I could afford it! What a machine! Can't say I've ever seen a pinball machine quite like that one.

Can't wait for your review Bill. I saw a similar looking pinball machine at Costco, but they only had "Spider Man". It cost $200 and looked to be about the same table size as yours, but no legs.

Holy Pinball machines! I

Holy Pinball machines! I thought you guys might like to see this post over at GSW. If I ever get to Las Vegas, this place is on my shortlist.

Hold off until I get that

Hold off until I get that review up just to make sure you'd be happy with it. If you do end up wanting it, you may only be able to get it online at Wal-Mart, rather than in the stores. It's a good, quick deal at $200 + $15 shipping and handling. I'll try to get that up tonight and you can make your decision from that...

I showed your original post

I showed your original post to my wife as she had asked for Xmas options for me. All I had given her previously were Xbox360-related things (there are, of course, on top of my list). She hates buying games for some reason. So....I'm hoping to get the Marvel version, if she can find it!!!!

Yes it is, but I'll get to

Yes it is, but I'll get to use it so little between now and Christmas and even for a time after, that it doesn't quite count as much...

My pinball machine actually

My pinball machine actually came yesterday along with the other gifts ordered, and I was able to set it up. I'll try to post full impressions later tonight, along with photos. It looks good, has some nifty features, but it does have many elements that keep it strictly in the "toy" category. Bottom line, it's probably worth about the $200, not the $400 list, so I'm glad I got it for the former. More later in a blog post...

My Choice...

Well, from looking at both machines there doesn't appear to be a huge difference. Except, from the pinball surface background. Pirates is alot darker than the Marvel one and I believe you made the right choice there by going with Marvel. Besides, Marvel looks like it would be more fun (I just like Marvel better)!!!!!
You're going to have a great Xmas. I wouldn't mind getting one for myself, but I don't know where I'd put it. We'll be looking forward to some pics from your den. Cheers

Marvel and Pirates Pinball

Interesting: http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=14545
No wonder they're so good, they're designed by John Popadiuk, Jr, of Williams' fame.

I guess they both are the same, despite the occassional disparity in price online (some place have them for the same price, others, like Wal-Mart have Marvel cheaper). In any case, my wife is supposed to order the Marvel one from Wal-Mart today, so I'm quite happy! I'll cover it after it comes.
