The interface is slightly different like you mentioned, but better in my opinion on a console. The style of game play is much more suited to a controller than a mouse. Rather than endless clicks you steer with the game pad and attack with a button, which seems very natural.
Granted the graphics and animation are slightly tuned down (as someone mentioned below) for the PlayStation, but the local co-op more than makes up for that. I've never been that fixated on graphics anyway and it still looks good on the PS1 in my opinion.
I'm sure its just a matter of preference, but I could never get into Diablo or its clones playing solo. It's just too repetitive and uninteresting for me. Anyway. that is why I prefer the PlayStation version.
