Hey, Clok, yeah, you're right about FF. Don't know what I was thinking calling it a Diablo clone! In any case, it's a lot of fun.
I guess I haven't played many straight-up Diablo clones. I have Sacred and lots of other ones sitting around here that I never got into. I did enjoy Dungeon Siege 1 but got bored and quit the second one. A lot of them seem like single-player WOW clones to me; I just don't get grinding for loot in these games.
I got one here called Restricted Area that I bought a couple years ago in a sale. I'm not ever sure it'd work with Windows 7, but I've meaning to give it a spin.
I had a friend in college who'd play Diablo multiplayer all night long. He was really into the cheats for it...I remember he'd get livid when they'd release a punkbuster or whatever and make his unauthorized equipment go away. I *still* have no clue why he found any of that entertaining! But undeniably, it was a huge thrill for him.
It's funny, but Warcraft and Starcraft never really hooked me either. I played them all and enjoyed them to some extent, but just nothing like what I've seen in other gamers. I guess I just lack that gene or chromosome that makes me super competitive with this stuff. I just want to get through the game, enjoy the experience, and move on. Not interested in grinding a dungeon 500 times to get a super weapon.
