Seems like a perfect opportunity for a game like Grimrock to make a "map store" (pun intended) and integrate it in. The tool developers could then take a small cut of map sales and really creative types could profit from full featured games they made using the toolset. As long as users are able to distribute their maps freely I don't have a problem with somebody taking a cut from helping monetize the popular ones.
I've been a fan of construction set "games" since Adventure Construction Set but I've never used one that had a convenient way to share with other people.
