As for the issue with no audio over HDMI, do you have the HDMI cable connected directly to an HDMI out on your video card? If not, then there won't be any audio. Where as DVI and HDMI are very similar if not the exact same in video spec, as far as I know almost no or no DVI connectors do. What is your specific Driver version, and your video card? I will see if I can dig into it deeper tomorrow.
