I don't think you'll get much complaint form that comment Matt because we can say that Daggerfall as an RPG was good but the design of it wasn't great. Case and point: the many dungeons that just end and cannot be completed, boy that was annoying the first seven or so times...
I think that Malevolence's biggest problem will be that it is going to be compared to Grimrock. This could be both a curse and a blessing since that the devs are clearly trying to head in a more open direction then Grimrock's Stonekeep-esque design. I'm keeping up with its IndieDB page, since it has the latest information, and I have to say that it they get it all right (and the dungeons are able to be completed), it should be a fairly promising game. Just going to have to wait for a demo I guess.
