Well, here's the thing about Ultima IV... As was stated, the original PC version is the version you'd LEAST want to play in my opinion. Besides the original Apple II version with Mockingboard you have the Amiga and ST versions of the game that offer better visuals, sound and control. If you want something even more intuitive, yet still faithful, then play the Sega Master System version (the NES version is not comparable). I'm glad I'm beta testing the iPad version, because that to me is just about the best version you can have, simply because it updates the PC version's visuals and has a full orchestral soundtrack. It also puts contextual commands on the lower half of the screen, which makes playing it without the instructions (or your memorization) easy. Of course for me, I'd still PREFER to play the original Apple II version with Mockingboard on the real hardware because that's the setup I have, but coming at the game raw, I'd have to go with the iPad or SMS versions.
