Some of the few bits of software I have ever purchased. Some find that funny as you always get "But you can emulate for free!" sure, in the past for years I emulated C64 and Amiga. Honestly, never thought I would buy an emulation package. Now, I am not even one (as you know) to go on about the legalities, obtaining the Kickstart and Workbench images legally, really that is a bonus. My personally reasons for buying these in the past are no fiddling about with settings, at least for the most part as you have several OS environments preset and ready to go. On top f that, I just like CLOANTO for taking the time, care and effort putting these packages together. They have a great frontend to the emulators that are easy to use, you can easily move between the emulated and host environments they way it captures and releases your mouse etc. Really these packages are setup in a way that you can go as basic or as deep as you like to. What is really cool is you download a C64 or Amiga game or application image, click it and it automatically loads up the package interface and runs it, regardless where you keep the images, that is cool and convenient. Also, they have great support for enhanced Workbench environments like AmiKit and AmigaSys. Lastly I have been very impressed with the Cloanto team's support. They have always been very helpful and you truly get a sense they appreciate their customers. Taking from me someone who has been emulating various platforms for years including Commodores, before you dismiss these packages as unnecessary, even if your one who loves to tinker and set things up themselves, try out these packages and features and see what you think. I NEVER ?BELIEVED I would ever purchase emulation packages, I legally own both with no regrets at all, I truly felt I received great value for my money.
