Expanding the Acorn BBC Microcomputer - a bit of micro-computer surgery (success!)

This video is rather Acorn BBC centered. I got some very reasonably priced expansions for the lovely BBC microcomputer that required a little surgery. This time I succeeded!

The MMC solid state interface that was fitted previously doesn't like to cooperate with the Disk roms nor does it want to function properly with the tube roms.

Disk and Tube roms function well together but for some reason the MMC solid state storage solution just doesn't like to be in the machine together with the Disk or the Tube. The Tube Roms are tolerated by the MMC roms but the MMC will only work properly with the Tube switched off. If the Tube-coprocessor is active the MMC is shown on the post-boot power on screen but it will not work properly. Only a couple of commands work. You can see the disks on the MMC card by using *dcat, and it is possible to *din insert a disk and even see a directory of a disk with *cat but for some reason loading and excuting a progam off the disk will just not work.

I guess the only solution is taking out the MMC rom whenever I want to use the disk-drive (ZIF sockets are needed) or get a newer MMC rom that is less buggy and more cooperative with the disk and the tube roms.

Or get a BBC Master Computer that already has the disks bits in place and try running it all on there.

Or get another solid state storage solution (Datacenter) from Retroclinic.com that will work with the disk and the tube roms in situ.
