PSP with firmware v2.71 does play homebrew

PSPPSPEr... well sort of anyways. The Flash player that is contained in the latest firmware is compatible with two of our flash games on the site: Pac Man and Tetris. They are executed very slowly but are somewhat playable. Any of you PSP-owners, give it a try. So it is possible to get something homebrew running op on the PSP. Just create a webpage with a compatible flash file and the PSP will play that. There's a c64 emulator out there for flash9. The state of the PSP's flash support will not allow such things - but it does start me thinking.

Suggestion: What if Sony were to open up part of the PSP so that access to sound, controls, simple frame buffer and hardware scaling (SDK with SDL & C-compiler included ) allows for legal homebrew devving. Of course making sure that homebrew titles are confined within a specific part of the OS (sandbox) on the PSP so that accessing UMD drives is not possible for those game hackers out there. Much like the Legal Linux implementation of the PS2. That would be wonderful and it would possibly stop a lot of legal homebrew enthusiasts from having to resort to hacking when trying to use their systems for something else as commercial video games/videos.
