Well as a avid gamer I

Well as a avid gamer I hesitate to say this, but it think consoles, at least as we know them are going to have another Video game crash, it wont be like the last one where it basicly killed the market for a year or two, that wont happen. But We already see it happening all over, we have a GLUT of games, and argue all you want, shoveling out the next COD/Doom/HALO/ over and over will eventally backfire. I have said it a 100 times... and I use the 360 as a poster child (though the PS3 could easiely be used also) when 75% or more of your game base is a FPS its going to catch up to you. They all dable in other gener's but as the artical says, they dont really invest, just dable. All the little studios are dying one by one, or they are are abosorbed into a bigger one, last a couple years and then die (again, look how many that EA or MS games has closed). We are weening the creativitiy out of the game devolpers, the unsuccesfull or barely successfull are dying out. I really really htink this is going to have a very stagnet effect on games for a few years as the 360 and Ps3 (im not including the Wii in the list as they are still doing some interesting stuff, but failing :( ) run the end of there life cycles we are heading for a dark gameing period. The big developers are going to put all there resoruces into COD 5-6-7, Killzone 4-5, etcc and nothing else will get a budget.

If you really look at it the best inovation comes (almost) from desperation.. Nintendo knew it had to think radical to live anotehr console generation, and swung for the fences and connected... now MS and SONY want part of that pie... neither had any interest in motion controlers.. it was simply "me too" syndrome. Rumours say Move sales are almost gone, Kinect sales for last month where about 1/6th of what hey had been and the games are simply not selling at all.. Eventally all those people are going to want software or we have another Robbie sitting on our tv.

I think a games colapse is comming.. at least BIG games.. the real big ones will live on with brand loyalty but the next DRAGON AGE, RAGE, BULLETSTORM (if it is any good)... gone... the studios creating all the new IP's are simply going away.. Dont get me wrong, there will be new IP's, that will never change.. but 10-20 a year that wont be happening anymore? And when you quit creating new and just enhance old it simply is the begining of the end.. and we have been on that path for awhile.

To much doom and gloomm and it may take a bit longer then I predict.. but one video game crash and the crap they are doing/shovling now.. its going to happen again..

This thread brought to you by the grumpiest gamer ME!!!!! im probebly 100% wrong.. or maybe thre is a trickle of truth in there.... and maybe just maybe things will just go on and life will be ok in vidoe game land :)
