Boy, you aren't kidding,

Boy, you aren't kidding, Bill. It looks like this is a very small operation that has staked it all on the name recognition of a dead brand. Those "bare bones" systems don't even come with a CPU or memory, and they're still more expensive than many complete systems.

I guess I can understand these companies trying to eke out a few sales based on the name, but it is hard to understand why we should try to promote them out of any feeling of nostalgia or loyalty. Every time some company with the rights to Commodore or whatever comes out of the woodwork, it gets all kinds of free publicity that it in no way deserves. So what, you spent a few grand to license the name. Anybody can do that. I'm not going to mention any of these rip-offs until I see a product that really lives up to the reputation.
