I watch extensive Science Channel, Discovery, History, Planet Green, Comedy Central and National Geographic, among others. Christina watches extensive HGTV, Food Network, etc. The girls watch Nickjr, Nickelodeon and various other kids channels. So we definitely need cable, even if some of that is available on alternative services like Hulu or much later on on things like Netflix. I'd rather pay than go to the effort of torrenting everything, added to the fact that I can at least in theory properly support the things I enjoy watching. It's the whole piracy thing all over again, really. They entertain me so I should reward them with the system(s) they have in place so that continue to entertain me.

I'd be perfectly fine dropping the movie channels completely though if I could, but like I said, it's not practical because of the way Comcast rigs their packages. The ONLY thing I really ever watch consistently on a movie channel is Penn & Teller's Bullshit! on Showtime, and their seasons are relatively short. Christina does occasionally make use of On Demand, though, but I believe she'd be just fine if she just had Netflix.

By the way, my cable bill is about $231.00 every month, which includes my Internet, phone and cable, along with the two HD DVRs. Pricey, but I consider it as important as my electricity bill.
