Yes the price of iPhone games has been trending downwards as developers find that lower prices get you to the top of the best seller lists. Though the cheapest games don't necessarily have the highest revenue in the end.
I bet some developers wish you could set prices at $0.49 or $1.49 but the App Store has no such pricing tiers. (The lowest tier is Free, then $0.99, then $1.99... in the USA and Canada at least. The tier you select determines the actual prices in local currencies)
