Serious party

I'm just curious if these party packs (Windows 7, and now Ubisoft) are meant to be actually used for parties, or if they are some marketing joke/gimmick. I'd be more inclined to attend a "Your Shape" party than a "Windows 7" party, actually... :-)

Yes, these are actually meant for parties with friends and family. All you have to do is apply. Anyone can. Whether you get accepted or not is a different story.

From what I've seen/read of these Wii exercise games, it seems that "Your Shape" will give you a much more serious workout than what it seems the other Wii Fit-type games will give you. From what it seems, the "Your Shape" program is not tied to the Wii Fit board or Wii controllers, meaning it has great potential for porting to other platforms.

I'm not saying I'm an authority on these programs or anything ;-) , but I disagree about the "serious workout" part. Most, particularly the top titles, are very, very effective workout-wise. We have not had a chance to try "Your Shape", but as stated, it's an evolution of two earlier programs and contains hundreds of exercises. The whole series is meant to be used with just about anything you have around the house from an exercise equipment standpoint. "Your Shape" is the first in the series to actually be able to provide some feedback about what you're doing via the included camera. That obviously changes it from a computerized workout guide and tracker to something more interactive. With that said, as is often the case with these things, I've heard mixed results about how well the camera actually works.

And yes, this absolutely can be made for ANY platform because all it requires is the camera. The earlier games - with nothing but the software - were available on the PS2, Xbox, etc. "Your Shape" is available for the Wii and PC right now. Oddly enough, the PC version requires you to use its camera, not your Webcam.
