I've never been a fan of "quick and dirty" style podcasts. Just seems like if I expect someone to take the time to listen to the show, least I can do is try to have some kind of plan and some decent editing. I'd rather hear a 3 minute podcast done right than a 4 hour one done poorly.
Indeed, though it depends on the content and the context. Some of the casual chatty ones like "GameRADIO" are quite good. It's a contrast from the slick ones like Twit, with ads and what-not. There's room for everything.
