By the way, you may not know this (not many people do), but there was a Saturday morning live-action TV series aimed at kids called "The Ghostbusters" that was on in the 1970's, long before the movie came out. I used to watch it as a kid. The characters were different (one of them was a gorilla!), but it was basically the same idea. Apparently, the movie production company outright ripped off the idea, right down to the title! Here's a YouTube link for a more in-depth story about it:
I remember next to nothing about the show, but I remembered the gorilla.
I don't remember ever seeing that, but I did see the cartoon based off of it, which was on at roughly the same time as "The Real Ghostbusters" cartoon. Inspired by or not, it was naturally a pretty rough concept that was executed to Hollywood perfection in the movie.
Did you see this, by the way?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAboGO9MDsQ
Ghostbusters inspires nothing if not lots of love. I too agree that a third film is a good idea, if for nothing else but try to recapture the magic of the first film.
