I'll have to watch this movie again sometime. It's the first movie I can remember seeing - summer of 1984, I was 5 years old, saw it at the drive-in. And was one of the first DVD's I bought 9 years ago.
Man, that makes me feel old. I'd already graduated high school when this came out. :-)
*YouTube ALERT* The movie "Ghostbusters" is available for free viewing on YouTube, and is being prominently featured on the YouTube site this month. Good timing, Matt! People who search for "Ghostbusters" on YouTube might come across your video.
Great video as always, and your commentaries are getting better and better recently. They were always good, but something is different recently, and I can't quite put my finger on it. But it's working.
The C-64 version of "Ghostbusters" was prominently used as in-store demos for the C-64's on display in most of the computer-dealing stores in my area, sort of an "attract mode." The game probably sold more than a few C-64's.
I frequently played the Atari 8-bit version back in the day. Although it was inferior to the C-64 version, the gameplay was apparently intact, and it wasn't an embarassment.
The light "business" sim aspects of the game somehow managed to capture the charm of "Ghostbusters" without being too "businessey," turning off the kiddies. And the action parts of the game, while not flash-blam-whiz edge-of-your-joystick excitement, were relaxing and lighthearted, setting just the right "Ghostbusters" mood.
I'm not really sure "Ghostbusters" is really a super-great game, but as far as movie licensed games go, it's arguably among the best, and certainly is a classic from that viewpoint.
P.S. some "Ghostbusters" news: they are in the beginning stages of making a "Ghostbusters III" movie right now. Getting together the script, the original cast, etc. It isn't even close to production yet, but chances are we'll see "Ghostbusters 3" in the not too distant future.
P.P.S. there was lots of buzz a few months ago about the upcoming "Ghostbusters" game for the modern consoles that appeared to bear no resemblance to the classic 8-bit game. The videos I've seen of it (which allegedly had voices of the original cast) looked really cool, and apparently the game was the catalyst to re-inspiring the cast to do another "Ghostbusters" movie.

Anyhow, great video as always, Matt.
