I believe he was referring to Baldur's Gate on the PC, rather than Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance for consoles, which is a superb action RPG. It's one of my favorite games, and a favorite that I played co-op with my wife. I have the first one on Xbox and the sequel on PS2 (which we played on PS3). That's a favorite game format for me. Too bad there's no good current gen interpretation of that type of game. Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom is the only co-op enabled one I can think of, and it's really not very good.
