No offence, I am sure you two worked hard on the book but if it did not get on there is probably a good reason for it. A reason you may not like. I was thinking of posting a review on amazon but the ones all ready up there say everything I can think of. Why post the same thing over again? It is not a book for every one but the ones who matter will know about it.
Honestly, LL, the pending Slashdot review seemed as good as anything else on there and the subject matter is right up their usual alley, so there seems to be no good reason for it not being officially on their site. It's literally hit or miss what they accept and it has little to do with any particular factors. The only thing that might influence the "whim" of Slashdot is if enough people request its promotion.
And if you can post a review on Amazon, it DOES help us, as the more reviews on there - good or bad - the more the book gets suggested with other books. The more publicity the better. Keep in mind that regardless, these types of books are lucky to sell a few thousand copies. We're certainly not doing this for the money as we've always been up front about such things--there is no money in any of this and certainly no money to justify the amount of effort put into it. It's as much about getting enough sales to justify future books of this type from us and others with mainstream publishers as it is about us having "success", which is relative anyway. So if you care at all about books of this type, by all means post that review of yours, no matter how redundant you think it may be.
