Funny the different senses of humor around here. If you remove any type of concern over people "getting hurt" or "breaking the law", then it's either funny or it's not. My wife and I found it funny, Mark and his wife found it funny, no one else seems to have found it funny. Fair enough.
I went and watched them again, and I'll tell you why *I* didn't find them funny. When you do a "prank" video, the entire comedy of a "prank" rests on the reactions of those whom the prank is played on. There are pretty much no reaction shots of the "prankees" in these videos. Basically, you're left with guys running around dressed up in "characters," and that's not particularly funny to me. If they had scenes of casual reactions to the "surreal" from ordinary people, that might have been funny. What's funny about watching guys running around dressed up as Mario or Pac Man outside of the "audience" reaction?
And I DID notice the guy tossing banana peels at the motorcyclist, but I didn't comment on that. As a former motorcycle rider who wrecked 3 times in 3 months, I *know* that such things are dangerous. Tossing things at a biker is a serious no-no.

European and Japanese "prank" laws are very different than they are here in the US. There are far less liability issues, so the pranks and prank shows are far more aggressive than they are in the US, where you'll get your ass sued in a heartbeat.
I don't know about now, but some of the "prank" shows I saw on Japanese TV in the '80s could NEVER happen here. I recall one where male cameramen went into the female side of a Japanese public bathhouse. The nude women screamed and ran. The "comedian" cornered one unfortunate Japanese female, wrapped in a towel, and started interviewing her. The shocked and annoyed female started to answer, and the comedian pulled her arm holding up the towel. She recovered, but the comedian turned to the camera and said (translating) "I saw her naked!!!" The studio audience roared with laughter, but try that here in the USA (if they had public bathhouses), and you'd go to prison for sexual assault (as you should!)!! That's only the tip of the iceberg.... I saw very crude pranks over there on commercial TV that would make Howard Stern blush. Many Japanese shows had a perverted and/or scatological sense of humor, but I was generally repulsed.
To be fair, they had lots of hilarious (and much tamer) prank shows over there.

Good stuff to know. The next time I find a relevant video, I'll try that technique out.

Well, I just like reading and posting comments. "Admin" status is overkill. If posting videos had something to do with user level, then that's fair, in my book. I'd be happy just posting links to the videos.
