No Netflix in Europe

A service like Netflix is not available in Europe / the Netherlands. Streaming/rental video services that are available - in the Netherlands - are very limited in selection and quality. It does vary a little in other countries. Like Americans people are willing to pay for a good quality service and a large library of content to choose from but for some reason the content is not licensed for European territories.
Digital TV and pay-per-view services are appearing and are maturing but the range on offer is often rather limited. Quality varies enormously. Going the usenet-route or the P2P-way may actually be the ONLY available alternative as there is NO (legal) alternative available apart from going to a DVD-shop or DVD-rental shop and select one of the titles on offer and take that home with you.
