Any device you have that has a CRT display should be brought out and powered up at least once a year, twice a year if it is important to you and older than say 20 years or so.

Yes, that's definitely a good tip. I certainly don't do that enough, which is one of the drawbacks of having a large collection. I've had a few CRT-based systems die because of that.
UPS apparently stopped by today, unannounced to take the arcade machine back (presumably, they told me nothing after I filed the claim). No one was home, so I guess they'll come for it tomorrow. *sigh* Nothing is ever easy.
