The crack may have just been from the case re-adjusting to temp

Work those dials and see if you can get a clear picture. But it does sound an awful lot like blown capacitators.

Replacing the capacitators on any old arcade display (CRT device) will bring it back to life, give it a better picture as capacitators tend to 'wear out'.
