It's very obvious it's an affiliate link since it says "ArmchairArcade" in it.
...with Firefow this isn't obvious: You only see "http://tinyurl.com/6dbno8".

Yes, but TinyURL doesn't mask anything once you reach your destination. The full destination is revealed once you're there. It's literally clicking on this: http://tinyurl.com/6dbno8 to see this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0240811461?tag=armcharcad-20&camp=14573&creativ... (which itself is truncated by the site - the actual link text is considerably longer). I use both interchangeably since they're the same link, it's just that sometimes that huge ass link doesn't fit. Again, I don't see how it's deceptive, as using TinyURL is a common practice for overly long URL's, and in this case it's being used precisely for that. If some people have a problem with it, that's their problem as far as I'm concerned. We do use the Amazon Affiliate code for that and certain other links to help fund the costs of Armchair Arcade. We make zero dollars at this. Every affiliation we have, be it with Amazon, Google Ads or Play First is there to cover the costs of operating Armchair Arcade, period. We have no pop-ups, we don't harvest e-mail addresses and we have minimal and compartmentalized advertising. I have no problem with being responsible for AA's finances, but at the very least it should be able to cover its own expenses and not come out of my own pocket. So far, we've been able to do that and I hope it continues to do that. I don't run AA to make money, but I certainly don't want to put my free time and effort into it and then have it cost me money on top of it.
By the way, there's an option in using TinyURL to show the full URL when you hover the mouse pointer over the link. I suppose I could do that instead, but that seems to be extra functionality that may or may not be 100% compatible with everything like a plain link. Anyway, the point is, we'll continue to use both full and TinyURL links interchangeably as necessary. If someone has an issue with a TinyURL link from *us* of all people, then they obviously don't trust us period and there's nothing we can do about it. I think we've always been as open book around here as any other site, and in 99% of the cases moreso, particularly since that's my personal belief.
Want to know AA's balance sheet with every expense paid to today's date? It's +$93.63. So we can cover almost $100 in future expenses at this point. Hopefully people can put up with some affiliate links now and again with that type of margin for error in mind.
