Boy, though, do those games look primitive! I couldn't make heads nor tails of that Bomber game. Come to think of it, none of the games looked like anything I'd want to play for fun outside of historical context. Does the voice synth actually make the games seem more dated somehow??
Blasphemy! B-17 Bomber is actually an exceptional and sophisticated game, especially for the time (as are the rest in the class). In fact, I can't recall not liking any of the speech synthesizer games, except maybe for Tron Solar Sailor, and even that had its moments. If anything, the speech synthesis adds immensely to the experience. What's nice as opposed to some other speech synthesizers of the day was the unique voices that played. I realize I'm a sucker for classic speech synthesis (I have a huge variety of multiplatform options), but just like good pixel graphics are timeless, classic speech synthesis is timeless.
