Jaleco's Tetris Plus (1990), shown here, was another in a series of Tetris conversions for the arcade. With home ports following in 1996, Tetris Plus' biggest addition was a puzzle mode, which presents players with a series of scenarios involving pre-placed bricks.

Action puzzle games take many forms, like the pictured classic, Lemmings (Psygnosis, 1991; Atari ST, Commodore Amiga, Sony PlayStation Portable, etc.). In addition to clever and approachable game mechanics, being "cute" can't be overlooked as a key factor in the success of so-called casual games. As an illustration of this, Lemmings incorporates cute animations and sound effects that make the player really care about saving the little creatures from destruction in each level.
