hmm I see Jerry Ellis has a new book out in june, The 8-Bit Book – 1981 to 199x covers over two hundred of the best computer games of the 8-bit era...
http://www.hiivebooks.com/BookDetails.aspx?ISBN=9780977998326

with 200 best 8bit games, I wonder how much overlap there is with the best 200 c64 games and best 200 speccy games...

"BBC Micro, Apple II, Atari 400/800, Oric 1/Atmos, Dragon 32, TRS-80, VIC-20, ZX81, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 128, Acorn Electron, Commodore 16/Plus/4, TI99/4A and MSX efforts"

hmmm c64/plus4 games didnt exactly light up the world, nor did vic20 or the CPC.. and games that did appear on things like BBC Micro (elite) appeared better elsewhere...

Some of the titles appear to have chosen random platforms (The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4 (BBC Micro) ... 1985)... its just a level 9 text adventure running on ACode, so any machine with an acode interpreter.... why pick bbc?

tho I have not heard of the SAM Coupe machine, and that seems pretty interesting..

some interesting game titles in the list in the developer diary...
