Cool, I still have fond memories of the Christmas I got ColecoVision with among others, Donkey Kong, Mr. Do! Popeye, Q*bert, Zaxxon....
Damn, to me the first real system to bring the arcade home, because your vision is our vision....COLECOVISION! Heck I didn't even mind the controllers though I learned even at that age to disassemble them and push the contacts back up to improve the response again LOL!
Oldschool games, some people just don't "get it"...
Yeah, the ColecoVision actually has an impressive homebrew library all things considered and the relative (and I do mean relative) ease with which games from the long-lived MSX 1 platform can be ported is a huge plus (and often with enhancements!). It's like the MSX 1 platform showed the promise of what the ColecoVision could have turned into had Coleco not been forced to pull out. Obviously the TI-99/4a is very similar in audio-visual capabilities to the ColecoVision as well, as well as other systems, including the Tomy Tutor. Certainly though ports from those (and let's face it, really on the TI-99/4a would be worth it) are not as straightforward, which is why we haven't seen any. It's also a shame that the Coleco Adam was built so relatively poorly and ultimately failed despite high initial interest, as that took the best of the base ColecoVision platform and gave it a HUGE boost in RAM, which is really the major deficiency of the ColecoVision outside of poor scrolling capabilities, which can sometimes be overcome with clever programming tricks/techniques.
