Yes, I've been the same way for some time, too. Indeed, the only time cash comes in handy is for tipping and taxis. I don't know why taxis haven't made the leap into credit card readers.
I haven't been out there in a while, but I know some taxis in NYC were doing that, though the last time I was there they were all not working for whatever reason.
What I REALLY hate are places that require a minimum purchase to use a credit card. Another thing is that a lot of gas stations now seem to be going back to the old different cash/credit price routine. Bad, bad, bad...
