Frank, I am so glad that Elise is a gamer too. We in fact got Mario Olympics as one of the gifts from Elise's co-workers! I actually have to fight for my right to xbox360 because Elise is playing it too ;)
But as I as I do want to be able to play without sharing the console for a little I ended up temporarily moving the 360 into the study, connecting it to the VGA input of my 22inch widescreen LCD and hooking it up to the old stereo that is in here. The Wii sits downstairs and gets loads of playtime from us both.
The unlucky thing is that PAL xbox originals are often running at 50Hz which is not compatible with the VGA cable. NTSC games don't suffer that faith. What I just cannot understand is why Microsoft doesn't state that properly on the Xbox original downloadables. Of course in NTSC country one doesn't have to face these problems. The original xbox suffers from PAL/NTSC idiosyncrasies too.
In PAL country the original xbox just wasn't component capable - hold on - it actually is when you change the eprom holding the PAL/NTSC switch by hacking it a little.

Anyways, I will uphold the graft as will Elise ;P
