I did enjoy Worms 3D and Scorched 3D, but you're right, that's a different kind of game. Historically speaking, artillery actually did much of the important fighting during the French Revolution and wars of that era. Go figure, it's easier to kill from a long distance than face-to-face combat. A great deal of modern engineering and mathematics developed specifically to help improve the accuracy of artillery. Indeed, a large chunk of computer development arose from the need for more accurate artillery!
