Title: TERRA HAWKS / Videopac no. 51+ AKA Attack of the Timelord
Company: Philips Magnavox
Released in: 1983
Author: Gerry Anderson
Platform: Philips videopac / Odyssey 2

It's a fast shmup similar to Glaxians, Demon Attack and the likes and it's based on a series with the same name by the author who also created the famous BBC series "Space 1999".

So what is this game all about: it's about an evil android called Zelda! Now that is one familiar name isn't it! Well Zelda is planning to attack the earth and as member of the Terrahawks-elite force you are one of the few people bold enough to be able to fight off Zelda and defend the earth.

The cart also works in a basic g7000/Odyssey 2 model but on the G7400 system it features a nice backdrop featuring a space panorama of the earth with the state of Florida and part of the US visible. The game is also quite playable without that backdrop, which actually is quite distracting. In the NTSC version the two red battle stars over the horizon are supposed to be flashing!

Some screenshots, notice the G7400 high resolution 'select game' screen that is different from the g7000's.

and here's a small crappy video (340Kb) containing the Zelda intro & the first wave of attackers, I am holding a camera so I am not able to shoot and die right at the end of the little movie.

There's quite a few levels and the pace of the game just keeps getting faster and faster.
[description of levels and enemies]

Graphics: 5/5 they are as simple as they come on the g7000, and on the G7400 you have a nice added backdrop.
Gameplay: 4/5 a bit repetative, not too many different enemies are featured in the game and it gets just very very hard to beat quickly.
Sound/Music: 5/5 It's no music actually, more some sort of blipping drone that gets higher & faster time after time. Either you like it or you absolutely hate it. The laser sound of your spaceship is exactly the same sound as in Freedom fighters (videopac 39)

Definitely one of the better videopac games out there!

IN PROGRESS...

I have an Odyssey2 multi-cart with that game on it. I don't remember trying it or if it will work correctly on my NTSC system, but I'm looking forward to trying it out now that I now it has such an interesting foundation...
